Team Diamond crowned Hoopsfix Pro-Am Women’s Champs
Team Diamond were crowned 2024 Hoopsfix Pro-Am women’s champions after beating Team Emerald, 44-41 in the final at Brixton Rec on Sunday.
Monique Esbrand (7p) sealed the victory from the charity stripe to give a decisive three-point lead to Team Diamond with only 12 seconds remaining.
Georgia Gayle led the winning effort for Diamond with 17 points, picking up MVP honours averaging 18.3 points per game in their unbeaten run to the title.
Kyla Nelson led Team Emerald with 10 points and eight rebounds.
Earlier, Team Sapphire emphatically took third place with a 96-47 victory over Team Ruby behind a huge performance from Jamila Thompson. Thompson dominated with a near triple-double performance tallying 16 points, 17 rebounds, eight assists and three blocks.
Jess Beeler led the team with 26 points and Dasia McByrd recorded 24 points, eight rebounds and six assists. They jumped out to a 29-6 start after 10 minutes and never looked back in a convincing victory.
Jenelle Grant led Team Ruby with a team-high 23 points and nine rebounds in the loss.
