Ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix Haas confirmed an extension of their ‘technical partnership’ with Ferrari

When Haas first broke into Formula 1 back in 2016, they did so as a customer team of Ferrari, using Ferrari power units.

The team confirmed on Tuesday ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix that their relationship will last a little longer.

As was widely believed, Haas confirmed that they will remain a customer team of Ferrari’s into the next set of regulations, extending their “long-running technical partnership” with Ferrari until the completion of the 2028 F1 season.

“I’m thrilled to extend our relationship with Scuderia Ferrari until 2028,” commented Team Principal Ayao Komatsu. “As an organization we’ve only ever raced with Ferrari power units and to have that continued stability moving into the next set of power unit regulations is a key part of our on-going development. The relationship with Scuderia Ferrari has always been a special one to us – they were instrumental in the genesis of the program back in the early days and have continued to be a valuable technical partner to us throughout the past nine seasons.

“I’m delighted we now have more seasons ahead and my thanks go to Fred Vasseur and many others at Scuderia Ferrari for continuing to show faith in our project. This announcement is just another example of the long-term ambition of MoneyGram Haas F1 Team – our investment and growth in the sport continues.”

The news comes as reports in recent weeks indicated that Toyota was exploring a return to F1, perhaps as part of a branding deal with the American-based team. That reporting led to speculation that perhaps down the road Toyota would begin producing power units, but this latest announcement from Haas is a sign that such a development would happen much further down the road, if at all.
