Big day for the Cavaliers getting Donovan Mitchell locked in for the next few years. They made a bet on selling him on playing alongside their young core of Darius Garland, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen and it paid off. Now Cleveland can hope to build off last year’s run. – 9:58 AM

More on this storyline

Cleveland’s Jarrett Allen remains at the top of the candidate list. The Pelicans have shown interest in him for years, and keeping Darius Garland out of potential proposals should make it easier for both sides to find common ground. However, Cleveland may not be interested in giving Ingram the lucrative extension he’s seeking, according to league sources. -via New York Times / June 29, 2024
Cleveland continues to be mentioned by league personnel as a possible alternative for Ingram, but there’s no straightforward path to making such a deal work with the Cavaliers. While Cleveland holds interest in Ingram and values his skillset, sources said, Cavs personnel have maintained a reluctance to breaking up the team’s core of Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen, as NBA figures continue preparing for Mitchell to sign a lucrative extension. Without parting with Allen, who’s long been on New Orleans’ radar, it’s difficult to find a path to bring Ingram to Northeast Ohio. (Another center the Pelicans had been eyeing, Nets big man Nic Claxton, is now committed to four more years at $100 million in Brooklyn.) Cleveland doesn’t want to part with Garland, either, sources said, even if his representation at Klutch Sports attempts to push his own trade. -via Yahoo! Sports / June 28, 2024
Former Cleveland Cavaliers head coach J.B. Bickerstaff joined Sirius XM’s The Starting Lineup with Frank Isola and Brian Scalabrine to break down the conclusion of the NBA Finals on Tuesday morning. In the course of doing so, he praised Dallas Mavericks star Luka Dončić for playing through a rib injury. Bickerstaff said: [Dončić] is a guy who was taking shots in his ribs so that he can go out and play right? He was playing through pain. He wasn’t complaining. He was still playing 40 plus minutes trying to go out and get it done. So give him the opportunity to learn from it . . . There’s room for improvement, sure, but give the guy credit for the job that he did. These comments are innocent on their own. However, Bickerstaff going out of his way to mention Dončić received “shots in his ribs” is still a sore subject given Jarrett Allen didn’t take an injections which caused him to miss the final eight playoff games for the Cavs. -via Fear the sword / June 19, 2024
