With the new CBA teams can make trades and signings right away after the Finals. Here are some recent trades and signings made.

Hello everyone, With the draft finished after the Lakers selected Dalton Knecht at No. 17 and Bronny James at No. 55, it is time to move on with free agency. As per the new CBA, teams could begin talking with their own free agents after the NBA Finals.

Many have done so and below is some of the notable activity from other teams.


  • Malik Monk stays with the Sacramento Kings for 4 years/78 million total
  • Oklahoma City Thunder received Alex Caruso for Josh Giddey from the Chicago Bulls.
  • Kentavious Caldwell-Pope declines his player option with the Nuggets
  • Chris Paul agrees to push back his guaranteed date with Golden State from June 28 to June 30
  • Bruce Brown team option picked up by the Toronto Raptors
  • Pelicans trade for Dejounte Murray. Hawks receive Larry Nance Jr, Dyson Daniels, EJ Lidell and the Lakers 2025 1st, 2029 1st (least favorable of Bucks/Pelicans)
  • D’Angelo Russell is picking up his 18.7 million player option for next season to stay in LA
  • Jaxson Hayes opts into his player option to stay with the Lakers
  • Lauri Markkanen’s contract is fully guaranteed. He will make 18 million next season
  • Max Christie is given a qualifying offer by the Lakers.
  • Lebron James opts out of his player option. Expectation is he will return to the Lakers on a new deal.
  • Royce O’Neale resigns with the Suns for 4 years/44 mil
  • Former Laker Troy Brown Jr is waived by the Pistons.
  • Cam Reddish opts into his player option to stay.
  • Former Laker Thomas Bryant declines his player option with the Heat
  • The Lakers tender a two way qualifying offer to Collin Castleton.

Here are some key dates to remember as we go through the off-season.

  • June 30th — Each team can negotiate with free agents not on their own team at 6 p.m. EST
  • July 6th — Teams may start signing free agents to contracts starting at 12:01 p.m. ET
  • July 6th - July 10th — California Classic Summer League in both Sacramento and San Francisco.
  • July 8th - July 10th — Salt Lake City Summer League
  • July 10th — USA Basketball Showcase in Las Vegas - USA vs Canada
  • July 12th-22nd — Las Vegas Summer League
  • July 26th - August 11th — Paris 2024 Olympic Games
