Ben Simmons, Dorian Finney-Smith among Nets trade candidates
Across the bridge, the Brooklyn Nets have chosen to pivot towards a rebuild, and other Nets veterans, including Cam Johnson, Dorian Finney-Smith, Bojan Bogdanovic, Dennis Schroder, Ben Simmons, and backup center Day’Ron Sharpe, are all potential trade candidates to monitor, league sources told HoopsHype.

Dorian Finney-Smith should be a name to watch on the trade market now. He’s good. Fits on any contender and a cheaper contract. – 12:04 AM

More on this storyline
Nets Daily: From Kevin O’Connor, the Ringer: “don’t be shocked if Brooklyn pokes around on the star trade market this summer, using its collection of veteran salaries—Ben Simmons’s expiring deal?—and future firsts from Phoenix, Philadelphia, and Dallas to try to acquire a difference maker.” -via Twitter @NetsDaily / June 24, 2024
Charlotte, sources said, held conversations with Brooklyn about swapping Miles Bridges in a package that would have brought Ben Simmons to the Hornets in February. Sacramento was another team that inquired about Bridges at the deadline, sources said. -via Yahoo! Sports / June 21, 2024

Looking ahead to the NBA Draft, Brooklyn believes it could get into the 20s if a player the Nets like fell into that range, league sources told HoopsHype. One player who could be dangled to a playoff-caliber team for such a pick could be Finney-Smith, who has a $15.38 million player option for the 2025-26 season. -via HoopsHype / June 26, 2024
Rival NBA executives are also monitoring the Grizzlies on the trade market, with centers Clint Capela and Mitchell Robinson available. The Grizzlies also expressed exploratory interest in trading for Nets center Day’Ron Sharpe at the trade deadline this past season and have now circled back again, league sources told HoopsHype. It’s worth noting the Grizzlies have also been fans of Nets forward Dorian Finney-Smith from afar since he was acquired by Brooklyn and previously made attempts to trade for him. -via HoopsHype / June 24, 2024
Carlisle also chimed in virtually, Finney-Smith said, describing his experience with a tenacious high-character competitor who started 35 games for the coach as an undrafted rookie. The Virginia Parole Board voted last July to grant Big L conditional freedom. It took another five months for his release in December due to a litany of issues at Greensville Correctional Center. “I was overtaken by this fear simply because I didn’t know what to expect,” Big L said. “The world I knew at age 23 had progressed 28 years without me.” -via NBA.com / June 17, 2024
