When you’ve got it, you’ve got it.

We’re on a bit of a Cousy thing lately so let’s do one more with today’s YouTube Gold.

If you’ve never seen it, Blue Chips is one of the best basketball movies of all time. Part of what made it great is that they hired real basketball players - and really good ones at that - to play college basketball guys. Bobby Hurley was in it for one, and so was Shaquille O’Neal. There are a ton of other players and a lot of coaches of the era too, including Bob Knight, Jim Boeheim, John Thompson, Rick Pitino and Jerry Tarkanian.

One of the cameos is by Bob Cousy, who plays coach Pete Bell’s A.D. (Bell is played by Nick Nolte).

The scene with Nolte and Cousy takes place in the gym and as they talk, Nolte is rebounding for Cousy, who is shooting foul shots - and he just doesn’t miss.

At the end, he shoots one left-handed and hits that one too.

It’s a pretty great cameo.

As it turns out though, there was more to the story, which Cousy discusses here. It’s great stuff.
