Early in the first quarter of Tuesday’s game against the Sun, Sparks rookie Cameron Brink went down with a non-contact leg injury and exited the game.

After watching Cameron Brink establish herself as one of the most exciting young players in the league, the Sparks were dealt a potentially tough blow on Tuesday.

Early in the first quarter against the Connecticut Sun, Brink suffered a leg injury and had to exit the game before being carried to the locker room, unable to put weight on her leg.

She did not return to the contest.

Unfortunately, it appears that the injury could have come as a result of a wet court, which has led to a number of players falling during the game.

For now, the severity of the injury is unknown. But it’s hard not to watch that injury, see that it came in a non-contact manner and not fear the worst.

The Sparks rookie has had a stellar start to the season, averaging 8.1 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game. She is currently third in the league in blocks.

The Sparks are already struggling to win games, currently 4-10 on the season, so missing any significant time would be a huge blow as she is undoubtedly the best defender on the roster.

Missing significant time would also put her ability to play in the Olympics in jeopardy. Brink was selected to be part of Team USA’s 3x3 team earlier this month and seemed ecstatic about the opportunity to help the country earn the gold medal.

The Olympics will begin on July 26 and run through Aug. 11, with the WNBA taking a month-long break during that span.

As more information on her injury becomes known, this story will be updated.
