Allen has 19 years of coaching experience and spent the last six years as an assistant coach for the Pepperdine men’s basketball team. He has also coached in different capacities at Washington State and Portland State.
“Mr. Allen’s coaching mentor Lornenzo Romar described Mr. Allen as ‘having unbelievable people skills, tons of basketball knowledge to put to use and a great vision for the future of the program,’” the Westlake press release said.
Allen takes over for previous head coach Kyle Kegley, who stepped down after eight years in order to better prioritize his family and mental health.
In addition to a new boys basketball coach, Westlake will be debuting its new head football coach, Jesse Craven, this fall.
