INDIANAPOLIS — Three-star small forward Jaylon Dean-Vines is planning a June visit to Oklahoma and is also planning a visit to Oral Roberts, he told ZAGSBLOG.com.

Dean-Vines, the 6-foot-3, 180-pound small forward from Kimball High School (TX) and the Team Griffen Nike EYBL AAU program, showed out in front of college coaches at EYBL Session 3. He averaged 11.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game while shooting 50% from the field and 6-of-16 (37.5%) from 3-point range.

Currently, Iowa State, Oklahoma, Illinois, West Virginia are recruiting Dean-Vines the hardest. Here is his breakdown of each program:

Iowa State: “The whole coaching staff been talking with me to be honest. The head coach, coach T.J. [Otzelberger] and coach Thomas Pollard, they been talking to me, trying to get me up there. They been trying to get me up there for the longest and I finally got to get up there like a week or two ago. Whenever we had the break in the EYBL session I went up there so. It was pretty good up there.

Oklahoma: “The head coach and coach Ryan Humphrey have both been talking to me. I actually talked to coach [Porter] Moser who was at our game. We have a good relationship as well.”

Illinois: “They have a guard that I play just like, Terrence Shannon. He just graduated this year I think, but I think I play just like him.”

West Virginia: “They’ve just started recruiting me. So they’ve been doing a good job recruiting me.”

Dean-Vines said he has a great relationship with assistant coach Chester Frazier who just moved from Illinois to West Virginia. The guard has already taken visits unofficially to Iowa State, Oklahoma and Texas Tech, but he plans on taking an official visit to Oklahoma and Oral Roberts sometime in June. No specific dates have been set yet.

Dean-Vines said the coach he’s closest with is Moser. He was in Indianapolis to watch Dean-Vines play, along with Otzelberger and Illinois head coach Brad Underwood.

Dean-Vines is ranked the No. 42 small forward in the country by 247Sports, giving him three-star status.

“I like to work inside out,” Dean-Vines said of his game. “So I like to start on the inside and work my way out to the three. But if the three is open at first, I’m going to take it. I have great athleticism as well and can facilitate the ball.”

Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic are some of Dean-Vines favorite NBA players, as he is from Dallas and a Mavericks fan. He also likes Anthony Edwards’ game. Dean-Vines dad played football in high school and his mother played basketball.
