0 1

The Hoopsfix All-Star Classic’s conference returns for a fourth year, but morphs into a one day basketball development conference, with topics in coaching, content, member growth and facility building.

Taking place on Saturday May 25th at Crystal Palace, there will be 10 leading practitioners in their field leading sessions that are taking place on court and in the classroom – buy your tickets now!

By buying a ticket to a particular topic – you are expected to attend the two sessions in the topic you have chosen, and then free to attend any others should the scheduling allow.

Once again working with Basketball Coaches Association of the UK (BCA), the offering for coaches is led by Alex Sarama – founder of Transforming Basketball and an assistant with the Portland Trailblazers G-League team, Rip City Remix, along with supporting the London Lions, Miguel Ortega, the 2023 WBBL Coach of the Year and 7-time Spanish title winner, of the Caledonia Gladiators, City of London Academy’s Jay Williams – former BBL Head Coach and reigning EABL South Coach of the Year, along with one more coach who will be confirmed this week.

Sarama will talk on “Transforming basketball – the constraint led approach’, Ortega will speak on level-appropriate coaching, knowing which skills should be focused on at varying levels of the development pathway, drawing on teachings from Spain, and Williams will speak on shooting, focusing on mechanics for beginner and intermediate players.

For the content creators, the Chicago Bulls’ Joe Pinchin will reflect on his time in the UK and show how to produce content with limited budget and resource, while renowned photographer Carol Moir will talk on getting your club’s photography right.

On the facilities side, Kevin Routledge will talk on the process to getting the now 5-court, 2000+ seat Mattioli Arena off the ground, while Jordane Edwards-Maddock and Adam Maddock from the Stamford Knights will go through their innovative warehouse space that has transformed basketball for their club.

Finally, for club growth, Pete Taylor will be talking on how the Milton Keynes Breakers have grown to over 1000 members in a very short period of time, with Newcastle Eagles’ Ian MacLeod talking on the Eagles’ huge participation base that now sees over 2,500 kids play in their CVLs every month.

There will be light refreshments provided along with opportunities for networking.

Final scheduling is still TBC, but the event will run from 12pm-5pm.

You have two options on tickets – either including a discounted ticket to the Hoopsfix All-Star Classic on Sunday May 26th for an extra £10 (£50 total), or access to the conference on the Saturday only for £40. Buy your tickets now!

All proceeds go to the Hoopsfix Foundation to grow the game; donations are most welcome.
