Washington State transfer Joe Yesufu is headed to West Virginia to play for his former coach Darian DeVries, he told ZAGSBLOG.

“I will be playing my last year for Coach DeVries at West Virginia University,” he said. “I am very familiar with his style of play and really loved the atmosphere in Morgantown.”

He added: “I will bring leadership and a winning mentality. Also being able to play fast, score, and make my teammates better.”

The 6-foot guard, who is represented by agent Daniel Poneman, averaged 6.2 points and 2.0 rebounds in limited action last season due to a severe hip injury.

This will be his fourth school after two years at Drake (where he played for DeVries), two at Kansas and one at Washington State.

Yesufu was a member of Kansas’ 2022 NCAA championship team, averaging 2.1 points in 34 games.

Under new coach Darian DeVries, West Virginia has also added guard Tucker DeVries (Drake), guard Javon Small (Oklahoma State), center Eduardo Andre (Fresno State), forward Toby Okani (UIC), guard Sencire Harris (Illinois), forward Amani Hansberry (Illinois).

The Mountaineers also added Class of 2024 point guard KJ Tenner and shooting guard Jonathan Powell.
