UCLA women’s basketball lands Washington State transfer Charlisse Leger-Walker

UCLA women’s basketball has landed transfer Charlisse Leger-Walker. The former Washington State guard announced the move on social media on Thursday evening.

“Catch me in Pauley,” Leger-Walker said in a post on X.

The 5-foot-10 guard who calls Waikato, New Zealand, home started in 21 games in her senior season and averaged 13.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game in addition to 36 steals. Leger-Walker could provide veteran experience and a physical presence for the Bruins, which reached the Elite 8 in this season’s NCAA Tournament.

Washington State went 21-15 overall and 7-11 in Pac-12 play to finish eighth in the conference.

Leger-Walker has one season of eligibility remaining due to the COVID-19 waiver, according to reports, and ended her senior season early due to an ACL tear. She ranks third in Washington State program history in scoring with 1,743 career points.

The addition of Leger-Walker comes after the departure of forward Emily Bessoir and 6-foot-2 big Christeen Iwuala, the latter of which entered the transfer portal.
