Texas signs Arkansas transfer Tramon Mark

Tramon Mark is headed to Texas from Arkansas.

The 6-foot-6 Mark is a Dickinson, Texas native who has played in 107 career games (69 starts) and registered 1,200 points (11.2 ppg) and 424 rebounds (4.0 rpg) in 2,881 minutes (26.9 mpg) over the last four seasons at Arkansas (2023-24) and Houston (2020-23). He has converted 42.4-percent (406-957) from the floor and 79.6-percent (289-363) from the free throw line during his first four collegiate seasons. Mark received a medical redshirt during the 2021-22 season while at Houston and has two years of collegiate eligibility remaining.

During his redshirt junior season in 2023-24 at Arkansas, Mark played in 31 games (28 starts) and led the team in scoring (16.2 ppg), steals (36, 1.2 spg), minutes (32.5 mpg) and ranked in a tie for second in assists (57, 1.8 apg) and third in rebounding (4.3 rpg). He converted 48.0-percent (168-350) from the floor, including a 36.4-percent mark (36-99) from three-point range, and 80.4-percent (131-163) from the free throw line during the year. Mark reached double figures in 25 of his 31 games, including ten 20-point performances and a pair of 30-point efforts. He posted a collegiate career-high 35 points (8-15 FG, 2-3 threes, 17-22 FT) in 40 minutes and hit the game-winning basket with 1.1 seconds left in the home victory against Texas A&M (Jan. 16). Mark also tallied 34 points (13-17 FG, 4-6 threes) in 33 minutes against North Carolina (Nov. 24) in the Battle 4 Atlantis.

As a redshirt sophomore in 2022-23 at Houston, Mark played and started in all 37 games as the Cougars posted a 33-4 overall record (17-1 American Athletic Conference), earned a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16. He ranked fourth on the team in scoring (10.1 ppg) and added 4.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 29.5 minutes per contest while converting 78.4-percent (80-102) from the free throw line during the season. Mark scored a then career-high 26 points (9-17 FG) and added nine rebounds in the NCAA Round of 32 win over Auburn. He played in only seven games in 2021-22 due to a season-ending shoulder injury and earned a medical redshirt year.  

During his freshman year in 2020-21 at Houston, Mark played in all 32 games (four starts) as Houston posted a 28-4 overall mark (14-3 American) and reached the NCAA Final Four. He averaged 7.8 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 20.0 minutes per contest while converting 76.5-percent (62-81) from the free throw line during the year. A two-time AAC Freshman of the Week selection (Nov. 30 and Dec. 7), Mark posted 22 points (5-8 FG, 10-13 FT) and eight rebounds in his collegiate debut against Lamar. He also converted a three-point play with 24 seconds left that proved to be the game-winning basket in the NCAA Round of 32 victory over Rutgers.
