Marist stymies Siena men's basketball

ALBANY, NY (NEWS10) – The top scoring and field goal percentage defense team in the MAAC held Siena Basketball to just 30% shooting as Marist defeated the Saints 67-51 at MVP Arena.

 Marist (12-9, 7-5), which entered the day ranked eighth nationally in scoring defense (62.8) and tops in the MAAC in field goal percentage defense (.418), held Siena (3-20, 2-10) to under 35% from the field in both halves to secure just the third win in their past 17 trips to Albany.
 
Sean Durugordon led the Saints with game-highs of 16 points and nine rebounds.
 
Marist led 36-24 at the break and bridged the halves with a 19-4 run to open a 42-24 lead with 18:33 remaining. The Red Foxes ultimately built their advantage to as much as 28 points. Siena finished the game on a 13-2 spurt to provide the final margin.
 
Seven different players scored between 7-11 points as part of a balanced attack for Marist. Josh Pascarelli and Kam Farris led the way with 11 points apiece.
 
Following a stretch where they played five of seven at home, the Saints will now take to the road for three of their next four games to wrap up their February docket. Siena takes on its only MAAC opponent it has not yet faced – Manhattan – Saturday night at 7 p.m. in Riverdale, New York.
