The Golden State Warriors begin a slate of seven straight-home games starting with Thursday night’s matchup against the Miami Heat. The game will be played at 7:00 PM PT in San Francisco and can be watched on NBA TV and NBC Sports Bay Area.
Previously with the Warriors:
Golden State snapped their five-game winning streak after losing to the Denver Nuggets on Christmas Day, 120-114. Although many things can be blamed for the loss, the most controversial among them was the free-throw discrepancy. Nuggets center Nikola Jokic was sent to the free throw-line a season-high 18 times and converted every one of them. The constant whistles disrupted the flow of the game, drawing the ire of Warriors coach Steve Kerr during his postgame presser.

What to watch for tonight:
After playing the reigning NBA champions, the Warriors will now face last year’s runner up with tonight’s matchup against the Heat. Miami will be undermanned, however, as they head into tonight’s game without several key players including six-time All-Star Jimmy Butler.

Having said that, one of the Heat’s greatest strengths lies within their depth. “Heat Culture” refers to the organization’s core principles which allows them to develop quality NBA players year after year.
They may have done it again with starting forward, Jaime Jaquez Jr. — the 18th pick of this past NBA Draft. The Heat increased his playing time resulting in more production from the rookie, including a 31 point-performance during Monday night’s matchup against the Philadelphia 76ers.

With Golden State looking to get back on track after their Christmas Day loss, expect to see a heavy dose of Stephen Curry in this game. Without defenders such as Butler and Caleb Martin to slow him down, Curry should be able to feast on a Miami defense in which he recorded a 23-point triple double against the last time these two teams met.
