Oakland is in the Horizon conference.
With a little research, here is what I learned:
Oakland is 6-5 with a game, yet to be played, on Monday, 12/18 with Michigan State. Oakland has a win over Xavier. Oakland, iMHO, has played a very difficult non-conference schedule. IMHO, their record may be deceiving as to Oakland's capabilities.
Oakland's head coach is Greg Kampe who is a former assistant coach at Toledo. Greg Kampe has been the coach at Oakland for 40 years. That's 21 seasons at the Division 1 level. Kampe is the leader on the list, "Most Seasons with Current School" and 11th on list of "Most wins by Active D1 coaches". Kampe is named on list of "Michigan Sports Hall of Fame".
Brian Gregory, former Dayton head coach, attended Oakland and still holds school records in assists.
Pre-season, Oakland was picked 6th of 11 teams in the Horizon conference.
Rocket Watts won a gold medal for US U18 in the 2018 FIBA championships.
Based upon research of the last couple games, Oakland is playing 8 guys with approximately 10 minutes of playing time. These 8 guys are: Trey Townsend 6'6 JR, Jack Gohlke 6'3 GR, Isaiah Jones 6'7 SO, Rocket Watts 6'2 SR, Chris Conway 6'9 JR, DQ Cole 6'3 JR, Tuburu Naivalurua 6'6 JR ad Blake Lampman 6'3 GR. They also have Andre Polk 6'9' on the roster but he is not getting many minutes.
