Win An Obi Pacer Jersey Contest

I am terrible at pick the winner/score contests. So I thought I should do what I’m good at…managing projects and events…and run a contest instead of participating in one.
First task was to consult the Men’s Basketball head Guy Swampy and the Chief of Staff Chris R. Both contributed good suggestions to how this should be set up. But in all true first-time-around-the-block events, there might be some changes along the way. But everyone will receive the same notice of a change, making it fair, if we find that is needed. Chris will be the final say in any discrepancies. If you don’t like the rules…don’t play the game.
First thing you will want to know is the winner can either win an Obi Pacer jersey or two t-shirts. The jersey is sleeveless, so might not be your thing. In that case you can get 2 T-shirts. There will be some flexibility on the t-shirts. One for you. One for your spouse. Two different ones for you. Or in homage to Toumani, you can get an Obi and a Toumani t-shirt. We thought about a Toumani contest too, but probably need to give Toumani a couple years to settle into a role so we can set it up correctly. It will be great when we can include him down the road.
So here’s how it will work. 16-game contest. Basically takes you up to the All-Star break and you can have your shirt(s) to wear the 2nd half of the season. I’ve listed the games below. Each game will have its own thread with a deadline time and date to get your entry in. You will post your prediction for 3 stats. 1. How many minutes Obi will play. 2. How many points Obi will score. 3. How many rebounds Obi gets. We wanted to do dunks, but I wasn’t sure of a source to use for individual games, so had to go with what we knew we could resource.
For each stat, you will receive a graduating point score. You want a low point score, starting with 1 and going until all entries are scored. You can be under or over Obi’s actual recorded marks. It’s the differential that determines your placement that week and your eventual points awarded.
For example…if Obi scores 10 points in the first game and there are 5 people in the contest. John and Sue predicted 8. Frank predicted 12. Adam predicted 13. Bob predicted 15.
John, Sue and Frank were off the actual points scored by 2. All three people were the closest to Obi’s actual points scored. They will all receive 1 point. Adam was off by 3, and that was 2nd closest, so he gets 2 points. And Bob was 3rd closest, so he gets 3 points.
Then the rebounds and minutes played will be scored the same way and added together for a total points for this game. The lowest points you can receive for any one game is 3 points. (Good luck getting 1 point for each stat predicted.) Each game’s cumulative points will continue to be added for a running scoreboard. The contest is like golf - the lowest cumulative point score wins.
We will all be watching how Obi does in Indy, but hopefully this will increase the awareness and following of our favorite son. Here are the 16 games.
