Real bad situation...13,000 feet below the surface...no emergency beacon...there are seven ways for the sub to get back to the surface...the sub can not itself navigate, it relies on communication with the surface...there is only one method of communication with the surface, there is no method of backup communication...the sub might be stuck in the wreckage of the Titanic...it cost $250k to get on board...one of the subs(the same one?)got lost for five hours last summer, the surface ship cut off the internet to prevent anyone on board from tweeting about the sub being lost...the US and Canadian Coast Guards are involved along with other countries iinm.
Lost contact at 4am Sunday...it has 96 hours of oxygen for the five people on board, so they have until 4am on Thursday iinm...the company didn't call for help until 545pm on Sunday...communication was lost around 545am Sunday.
The US, Canada, and other countries are searching the surface in case the sub was able to get to the surface.
The hatch can not be opened from the inside, it can only be opened from the outside. So even if the sub is on the surface, they have to open the hatch in order to get oxygen in there. They do have some sort of decompression equipment.
