Baylor freshman phenom guard Keyonte George will be a one-and-done. On Tuesday afternoon, the prospect announced via Instagram he’s headed to the 2023 NBA Draft.

“To all the fans in Baylor nation, thank you for taking in a kid from Lewisville and treating him like your own,” George said in his announcement. “I am forever grateful.”

George, the 6-foot-4, 180-pound guard, was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year and Second-Team All-Big 12 this past season. He is projected to be a top-10 pick in the NBA Draft by ESPN and several other media outlets.

If George is selected in the top 13, he will be the fourth Baylor player under Scott Drew to be selected in the lottery. Other former Baylor players drafted in the lottery include Jeremy Sochan (Pick 9), Davion Mitchell (Pick 9), Taurean Prince (Pick 12) and Ekpe Udoh (Pick 6).

In his one season under Drew, George averaged 15.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists. He also shot 37.6% from the field and 33.8% from the free throw line.

George’s most notable games from the year included a 32-point outing in a win over West Virginia and a 27-point performance in an, 88-87, loss to TCU.

“Growing up it was always my dream to play for a school that felt like home and treated me like family,” George said. “I was blessed to find that at Baylor.”
