Birmingham and Taft boys, Granada Hills girls set for City Open basketball semifinals

Pasadena City College will host all four LA City Section Open Division semifinal basketball games Saturday.
Westchester (27-1) will face Crenshaw (20-6) at 1 p.m. and top-seeded Granada Hills (24-4) will face King/Drew (16-13) at 2:30 p.m. in the girls’ semifinals.
Taft (19-10) will face Westchester (20-9) at 5:30 p.m. and Birmingham (20-8) plays Fairfax (18-10) at 7 p.m. in the boys’ semifinals.
The boys’ bracket has already experienced some drama, seeing No. 1-seeded Narbonne fall to Westchester in the opening round, 60-56.

In the CIF Southern Section Open Division girls basketball playoffs, Sierra Canyon (2-0 in pool play) will take on Sage Hill (2-0) in Pool A at home to decide which team will play in the Open Division final on Feb. 25 at the Honda Center.
Etiwanda (2-0) and Mater Dei (2-0) will face off in Pool B for a berth to the final.
In Division 1, Chaminade will travel to Orange Lutheran for a semifinal matchup scheduled for 6 p.m. Hart is at San Juan Hills in the Division 2AA semifinals (6 p.m.). Village Christian is hosting Leuzinger in the Division 2A semis. Campbell Hall is at Chino in the Division 3A semis at 6 p.m.. Oakwood will travel to Laguna Beach in Division 4A (6 p.m.) and Oak Park is at West Valley High in Division 5A.
BOYS SOCCER
Agoura will host the Division 2 semifinals against San Clemente on Saturday at 5 p.m. The Chargers defeated Downey 3-1, Cajon 2-1 and Oxnard Pacifica 2-1 to reach the semis.

Chaminade will travel to San Gorgonio in Division 6 semifinals at 5:30 p.m. after blanking Laguna Blanca 8-0, University Prep 4-0 and edging Fairmont Prep in penalty kicks in the quarterfinals.
Genevieve will host Tahquitz in the Division 7 semis at Hoover High at 4 p.m.
