Let’s look at who the Cavs now have locked up going forward.

The first sip
With Dean Wade signed through 2025-26 with his new three-year extension, let’s take a look at who the Cavs have signed through that same time period. This is ordered from highest salary to lowest.
- Darius Garland, $38.6 million
- Donovan Mitchell, $37.096 milloon (player option)
- Jarrett Allen, $20 million
- Dean Wade, $6.6 million
Evan Mobley’s rookie extension would kick in for this season as well, but that’s not on the books yet, so it’s not above there. It’s also likely to not be figured out until after the next CBA signed; the current one expires after the 2023-24 season.
Wade’s extension feels both a signal the Cavs like him a player, but a financial bet to get someone signed to a deal that’s signed under the current CBA and below the mid-level exception.
Looking at the names above, it’s also a reminder of how barebones Cleveland’s roster is that far out. It’s not really surprising — contracts don’t run forever — but it’s a reminder of how short windows can be for NBA teams. This run the Cavs are just getting started on now this year is going to be fun, but it’s going to go faster than you’d think.
