Live Thread: Cavs @ Pistons

Good evening CtB!

The NBA is back and the Cavs have traversed across Lake Erie to the Motor City to take on the Detroit Pistons. The Cavs have been locked in a brutal struggle atop the Eastern Conference, and can’t afford to drop one against the lottery-bound Pistons. The problem is that the Cavs will have to do it without Darius Garland or newly acquired Caris LeVert, both out due to injury. It’s déjà vu all over again as the Cavs will be without their top three point guard options they started the year with.

In some good news, Tower City is truly back with the return of Lauri Markkanen. The offense should surely get a bump with his scoring versatility, and the defense will benefit from his length and grit.

The Pistons look like last year’s version of the Cavs, with a dearth of talent and a rookie forced to try and save a sunk ship in Cade Cunningham. It does seem like Detroit brings the defensive fight so the Cavs should be prepared to grind one out ugly.
