Tonight, the Glen Luss Glasgow Rocks made the long journey to take on the Thames Valley Cavaliers. In a game where the Glasgow Rocks would’ve expected to win, it was not without an impressive fightback on multiple occasions from the Cavs.

The first quarter was a comfortable one for the Rocks with them taking a 5-point lead as the quarter ended 16-21. The Cavs kept themselves in the game from the free-throw line as the Rocks conceded multiple fouls early on. Jordan Harris and Gareth Murray were key players for scoring points as they both made multiple shots.

As the game reached halftime, the Rocks were sitting comfortably as they led by 11 points, the scores stood at 30-41. New signing Vance Johnson impressed on both ends of the court as he collected multiple rebounds while also finishing at the rim and from the free-throw line.

In the third quarter is where problems started to arise for the Rocks, Hakeen Sylla of the Cavs was very impressive and led the fightback as the Cavs reduced their 11-point deficit to 0! It was then that the Glasgow Rocks shook off their poor start to the quarter and went on to only lose the quarter by a point.

Thames Valley Cavaliers dominated the fourth and final quarter as they scored 29 points, their most of any quarter! They took the lead with less than a minute to go through a Freckleton 3-pointer and it was a Jaycee Hillsman free-throw which took us to overtime.

Overtime was not without its drama also as the Cavaliers retained their lead through another Freckleton 3-pointer. The Glasgow Rocks however would prevail, taking advantage of free throws from Ali Fraser and Jaycee Hillsman, with Jaycee also making an important 3-pointer to put the game out of Thames Valley’s reach.

Tonight’s MVP was awarded to Jordan Harris as he collected 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 8 assists. Not to mention essential performances from Gareth Murray, Jaycee Hillsman, and Ali Fraser to ensure the Rocks’ progression to the Semi-Final where they will take on Cheshire Phoenix over two legs, with the final being played at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow.

The Glasgow Rocks will get a Semi-Final taster as they take on Cheshire Phoenix away from home on Sunday.
