Siena basketball coach supports letting Monmouth play in MAAC Tournament

While the America East confirmed on Wednesday it won't allow Stony Brook (a league rival of the University at Albany) to play in any conference championships, the MAAC is permitting Monmouth to play in its tournaments, including the men's and women's basketball event in Atlantic City from March 8 to 12.
"I think that was a credit to (commissioner) Rich Ensor and the MAAC because we have it in our bylaws that the team who's leaving, as long as they're paying whatever exit fee they have to pay, you don't punish the kids for a school leaving for various reasons," Maciariello said. "It's disappointing, but at the end of the day, it's still business and politics and there are a lot of other things that go into it that are above my pay grade."
