[Women's Basketball] Jackson Snags KCAC Defensive Player of the Week Honors
WICHITA, Kan. — Friends University women's basketball freshman forward Taylor Jackson was named KCAC Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday night (Dec. 13).
"Taylor gets better every week," head coach Dean Jaderston said. "She changes the game in so many ways."
A native of Houston, Texas, Jackson swatted five shots and secured six defensive rebounds in the 65-47 win over Ottawa last Wednesday (Dec. 8).
Jackson also scored 11 points on 4-of-8 shooting and grabbed four offensive rebounds.
Jackson leads the team in rebounding with 7.9 boards per game and ranks third in the KCAC with 2.8 blocks per contest.
"It's exciting to have a freshman who is competing at such a high level right away, and I expect her to win this award many more times during her time at Friends," Jaderston said.
The Falcons are next in action tonight at 6 p.m. against eighth-ranked Sterling College inside the Garvey Center before traveling to Texas to take on the University of North Texas at Dallas and Southwestern Assemblies of God University.
