WICHITA, Kan. – Friends University men's basketball junior guard Ian Konek has been named the KCAC Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced today (Nov. 29).

Konek was the fuel behind the Falcons knocking off the No. 12-ranked Bethel College Threshers last Tuesday night (Nov. 23).

A native of Long Beach, Calif., Konek poured in a double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds, including hitting 5-of-9 from three-point distance.

Konek also came through in the critical stages at the beginning and end of the Falcons upset victory. He got the Falcons off to a fast start with three treys and 11 points within the game's first nine minutes as Friends held its own with a 19-17 lead.

His fifth and final three of the night then snapped a 63-63 gridlock with 6:40 left that put the Falcons ahead for good.

Konek is currently pacing the Falcons in points (15.9 ppg), rebounds (5.9 rpg) and threes (24) on the season.

"Ian is a special player with a lot of potential," said Friends men's basketball head coach Austin McBeth. "He played with a lot of confidence and composure against Bethel, and gave us the spark we needed to win the game."

"As he continues to buy into our system, he gets better and better. I'm very proud of him on this well-deserved accomplishment!"

The Falcons are next in action tonight at 8 pm at York College before returning home to host McPherson College for FCA Night Thursday (Dec. 2) with another 8 pm tip-off time inside the Garvey Center.
