The Glenn Luss Glasgow Rocks battled against the Bristol Flyers for the second time in less than a week as the Rocks overcome them again, winning their first game of the BBL season at the Emirates Arena, after an impressive performance, outscoring the Flyers in every quarter with Sky Sports in the building.

To start the contest off, it was the Flyers who scored the first points of the game before Jaycee Hillsman got fouled and knocked down two free throws, giving the Rocks their first points of the evening.

Despite this, it was the Flyers who came out the block quicker in the first quarter, as they opened up the game with an 11-6 run, but the Rocks were determined to fight back and stay in the game early on as Tyrell Green knocked down the first three of the night for the Glenn Luss Glasgow Rocks.

Both teams continued to score at a fast pace at the start of the first quarter, which eventually lead to the Rocks cutting into the Flyers early five-point lead as another basket from Hillsman tied the game up at 16 apiece.

The Rocks continued on with this momentum to end the first quarter as Green hit another jumper before Jaycee Hillsman continued his hot streak in the quarter, scoring another three pointer for the Rocks who lead 27-23 after quarter one.

In the second quarter the Rocks started off where they left in the first as Fraser Malcolm, coming off the bench hit a three pointer to open up the scoring in the quarter. The energy continued with the bench players on the floor as Boban Jacdonmi ran his way to the rim finishing with an emphatic dunk as two Flyers defenders looked to chase him down.

The Rocks then opened up the biggest lead of the game so far for both teams, as Jonny Bunyan hit another three for the Glenn Luss Glasgow Rocks giving them a 10-point advantage almost mid-way through the second quarter.

Going into the interval the Rocks continued their impressive second quarter as Green was fouled on a basket, which he converted for an and-one, setting the tone for the Rocks in this quarter as they outscored Bristol 23-16 taking a commanding 50-39 lead at halftime.

Starting off the second half, the Rocks struggled to score their first basket as the shots just didn’t seem to go down for them at the start of the third quarter, however, almost two and a half minutes into the quarter it was Jordan Harris who cut to the basket, finishing with an athletic dunk putting one of the Bristol defenders on a poster.

The first half of the third quarter continued to be a low scoring affair between the two teams, however, the Flyers started to eat into the Rocks lead as they outscored the Rocks 10-6 in the first five minutes of the third, cutting the Rocks lead down to seven in the game.

The Rocks, however, determined not to let their lead slip in the game, managed to improve their scoring in the third quarter as some huge baskets from Ali Fraser in the quarter helped the Rocks hold on to their lead.

Going into the fourth quarter, the Rocks stretched their lead back out, giving them the biggest lead of the night so far as Jordan Johnson got to the line, scoring two free throws, as the Glenn Luss Glasgow Rocks lead 73-61 heading into the last quarter.

The fourth quarter started off perfectly for the Rocks as Jordan Johnson knocked down an early three in the quarter, which was followed up by another basket from Ali Fraser, extending the Rocks lead to 17 on the night.

For the rest of the fourth quarter the Rocks seemed to be in autopilot mode, opening up a large lead allowed them to slow down the game, control it and see out the win, even outscoring them in the quarter again. The Glenn Luss Glasgow Rocks defeat the Bristol Flyers, 99-78.

MVP of the game was Ali Fraser as he finished with a commanding 23 points, going 11-13 from the field. Next up for the Rocks is another home game on Sunday evening for a 5pm tip-off against Plymouth City.
