Some insights on a possible future star at Duke

Duke’s recruiting class so far is star-studded: Dereck Lively, Dariq Whitehead and Kyle Filipowski are all seen as 5-stars. Jaden Schutt is a four-star but plenty of people think that that's too low.

We’ve said before that what we know of his drive and desire suggest he’s going to exceed expectations.

Schutt plays for Yorkville Christian, which is a small, fairly new school where he is coached by Aaron Sovern.

Being a small school, Sovern has to do a lot of things besides coach basketball but he’s proven to be fairly good at it and Schutt has really put his program and school on the map.

Much like what Duke Basketball does for Duke admissions, Schutt has helped raise Yorkville Christian’s profile immensely.

He talks a bit here about his star player and how his recent Duke visit convinced him that it was the place for him and Schutt talks about his admiration for Duke and how the program makes use of players like him: “I liked Duke growing up. They were always a team I loved watching play, watching their skill players flow and read and react. They’ve had guys like me, and I want to replicate that.”

It’s a good read. It’s from the Chicago Tribune and we ran into a paywall. Just as a reminder, we only link to articles that we can read. There’s a chance you may not be able to, but we’re betting our readers are smart enough to figure it out.
