[WHAC] WHAC Named Five-Star Conference by NAIA

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - (NAIA Release) - The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) was one of 17 conferences named a Five-Star Conference by the NAIA for the 2020-21 athletic year. It's the eighth time the WHAC has earned the distinction. In order to be named, a conference must have established a Champions of Character Conference Committee, have a conduct in competition oversight committee composed of a minimum of three members, and have at least 50% of members institutions receive the NAIA Champions of Character Five-Star Institution Award.

Traditionally, institutions are measured on a demonstrated commitment to Champions of Character and earn points in character training, conduct in competition, academic focus, character recognition and character promotion. Institutions earned points based on exceptional student-athlete grade point averages and by having minimal to no ejections during competition throughout the course of the academic year. The NAIA worked to collaborate with member institutions to better reflect efforts that were impacted by transition and adjustments from COVID-19.

Cornerstone and Indiana Tech both earned perfect scores of 100 points (a total of 16 total schools earned scores of 100) for Gold status with Lourdes joining the pair in the category. Madonna, UM-Dearborn, and Siena Heights all earned enough points for Silver status while Aquinas earned Bronze status.
