North Carolina received some good news Monday as the Tar Heels’ leading scorer and rebounder Armando Bacot has withdrawn from the NBA Draft and will return for his junior season, CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein reported.

Bacot confirmed the news with tweet shortly thereafter.

The 6-foot-10, 240-pound forward out of Richmond, VA, earned All-ACC honors last season after leading the Tar Heels in points (12.3), rebounds (7.8), blocks (0.9) and field goal percentage (62.8%) during the 2020-21 season.

He averaged 22.7 minutes per game and started in 28 of 29 games for UNC.

As a freshman during the 2019-20 season, Bacot posted averages of 9.6 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.1 blocks per game.

Under new head coach Hubert Davis, North Carolina is set to bring in the nation’s No. 39-ranked recruiting class, led by four-star forward Dontrez Styles and four-star guard D’Marco Dunn.

The Tar Heels are also bringing in transfer forwards Brady Manek (Oklahoma) and Justin McKoy (Virginia).
