#ClanForTheFuture: Rocks show support for Glasgow neighbours

0 5

Glasgow Rocks would like to throw our support behind our neighbours from Braehead Arena including EIHL team Glasgow Clan who are currently deep in a battle to keep their home following an ownership takeover of Braehead.

An online petition has been created to ask current owners Global Mutual to enter discussions with the club with the intention of Clan taking over the running of the venue.

General manager Sean Skelly who spent five years with the club stated:

“Glasgow Clan are a huge part of the sports scene in the city and have a great fanbase.

“The hockey community as well as everyone else who is affected by this deserve to have a team to support and a place to call their own.

“We know how difficult it has been to operate as a business at the top level of sport in the UK over the last year and to have the threat of losing your home on top of everything else must be very difficult.

“I hope the Rocks fans, the Purple Army and the wider Glasgow community support the petition and back the club for the future.”

The facility was home of the Rocks in the early 2000s and many Rocks fans will have fond memories of us playing at the Braehead.

Whilst Ice hockey is a major use for the venue with popular side the Paisley Pirates also based there along with many recreational sides it is also a centre for other ice sports including figure skating and public skating.

Please consider supporting their struggle. The petition can be signed HERE or you can contact owners Global Mutual via their website HERE.
