The Dubs have a roster spot to fill, and are sorely lacking in frontcourt players.

The Golden State Warriors have two open spots on their roster and, per NBA rules, they’ll need to fill one of them before the season ends. And one of the names that is reportedly in the mix is someone Dub Nation is very familiar with: power forward Jordan Bell.

Multiple people have reported the team’s consideration of Bell, though right now it seems to only be a consideration, and Bell is surely joined by plenty of other names in that category.

The Athletic’s Marcus Thompson II was the first to supply the news.

Bell’s Warriors tenure may not have ended on a smooth and happy note, but there are reasons why he’d make a strong back of the bench option. The Warriors didn’t add another big man after Marquese Chriss suffered a season-ending injury, nor after James Wiseman did the same.

Kevon Looney is the only traditional big man on the roster, and Bell would offer some insurance in that department. He’s also familiar with the team’s schemes, having spent two years playing consistently with the Warriors. And despite the awkward circumstances at the end of his run with the Dubs, he seems to have good relationships inside the team’s locker room.

There’s a reason that the Warriors didn’t re-sign Bell, and a reason that he’s only played 34 games in the two years since. But there’s also a reason why he played serious minutes as a rookie on a championship team.

If nothing else, a reunion would be fun and interesting.
