New York Knicks vs. Houston Rockets News and Notes

New York lists just Mitchell Robinson on the injury report. Robinson (foot) has been ruled out for the game.

Houston lists eight players on the injury report: Sterling Brown (knee), Danuel House Jr. (ankle), and Avery Bradley (leg) will be game-time decisions. Eric Gordon (groin), D.J. Augustin (ankle), and David Nwaba (wrist) have been ruled out, while John Wall (hamstring) and Dante Exum (calf) are done for the season.

Notable Trends

  • New York is on a 5-0 ATS run in their last five away games.
  • New York is 5-1 ATS in their last six games after a win of more than 10 points.
  • Houston is 1-6 ATS in their last seven games on Sunday.
  • New York is 6-1 ATS in their last seven games in Houston.
  • New York is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings.

New York Knicks vs. Houston Rockets Predictions and Picks

The obvious place to start with this handicap is the injury report, as Houston has as many as eight players listed for this game.

It’s tough to expect much from this Houston team that’s already been eliminated from playoff contention in addition to having the worst record in the NBA. Houston just suffered a 26-point home loss on Saturday night to the Golden Warriors, and now, they have to be back on the court in 24 hours for another game, this time against the Knicks. In addition to this being their second game in consecutive nights for Houston, it will also be their third game in four nights. The writing is on the wall for a Houston team that’s already chosen to rule out John Wall (pardon the pun) for the remainder of the season. I’m not sure how Houston can rebound for a quick turnaround with an already depleted roster.

I’m generally not a fan of laying double-digit points, but I can’t think of a worse sport for the Rockets than this one. Keep in mind that New York last played on Wednesday so the fact that they come into this game with a rare three games of rest after the last playing on Wednesday really tilts the scales in their favor for this matchup.

New York has also dominated the Rockets in recent memory, as evidenced by their 6-1 ATS record on the road in Houston and 5-1 ATS mark in their last six meetings. They’ve continued to play well down the stretch as they’ve won nine of their last ten games and covered 13 of their last 14. I’m buoyed by the fact that they also took care of business their last time out with a 19-point win over a Bulls team that is a much fiercer opponent than the Houston Rockets.

I can only look to the favorite in this spot, so I’ll swallow the 10.5 points and back the Knicks on the road in the Toyota Center.

The Pick: Knicks -10.5
