[Women's Soccer] Women's Soccer Tournament Bracket Set

0 45

There's a new No. 1 this year as Aquinas sits as the top seed in the 2020-21 Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Women's Soccer Tournament. It's the first time in three years that a team either than UNOH has held the top seed. The top eight teams at the end of regular season qualify for the tournament and are seeded based on order of finish. The first round is slated for Saturday, April 3 with the semifinals on April 7. The two remaining teams face off in the championship match on April 10 at the higher seed.

The Saints won the regular season with a perfect 9-0-0 record and have won the tournament thrice: two times as the top seed (2007, 2011) and once as a second seed (2018). AQ host eighth-seeded Lourdes, whose lone WHAC win came against Rochester. Lourdes qualified for the tournament after Lawrence Tech had to bow out due to COVID-19 protocols.

Last year's tournament champion UNOH sits as the No. 2 seed with two losses: one to Concordia and one to Aquinas. The last time the Racers had two losses was back in 2013 as they go for their fifth tournament title. Seventh-seeded Indiana Tech travels to Lima with a 3-6-0 WHAC record and are on a three-game skid.

Madonna lands as the third seed with a 6-3-0 record. Besides losses to Aquinas and UNOH, the Crusaders also suffered a setback to Siena Heights. The Crusaders welcome No. 6 Siena Heights. SHU had the misfortune of facing UNOH and Aquinas within a three-day period to close out the regular season.

Fourth-seeded Cornerstone won in overtime against Madonna in the second-to-last contest to secure a home game and face No. 5 Concordia. The Cardinals enter the tournament having lost their last two conference games.
