Siena men's basketball team ready to begin play

0 13

“It’s got to be tough for them as 22-year-olds seeing their friends and people in the conference playing games and we’re still waiting to do it,” Siena head coach Carmen Maciariello said. “We want to make sure we’re doing everything to keep them as safe as possible before we get on that hardwood.”

That long-awaited moment is supposed to finally come on Sunday afternoon, when the Saints are scheduled to take on Monmouth at the Alumni Recreation Center, their homecourt for the foreseeable future instead of Times Union Center with no fans allowed because of COVID-19.

The Saints have already had three pauses in team activities totaling 42 days since mid-November because of multiple positive tests. Barring another setback, Siena will finally get to start showing they’re the top team in the MAAC.
