A Look At Duke’s Class Of 2021

Next year is going to be incredibly fun

The Duke Chronicle runs down Duke’s class of 2021, the currently committed and the guys who are still on the board and considering Duke.

The class is off to an incredible start with AJ Griffin and Paolo Banchero. Griffin is a really promising 6-7 forward who has solid skills. He can shoot, pass and defend and that’s all huge. Playing at Duke means supreme effort so he’ll get pushed to his potential.

Banchero is widely seen as the best big man in the class. Coach K reportedly loves his court vision and sense of the game and has compared him to Shane Battier. He has the chance to be truly special.

On deck, if we’re lucky, are Patrick Baldwin and Trevor Keels.

Baldwin, a 6-9 forward with ravishing skills, is very likely to be a lottery pick. Like Banchero and Griffin, he also checks another Duke box: he comes from a basketball/athletic family. You probably know that his father coaches at Milwaukee, which could be formidable competition for Duke in his recruitment. Keel is a 6-5 guard who was a high school teammate of current Duke freshman Jeremy Roach at Fairfax’s Paul VI.

Possibly less likely but still possible: 6-8 Caleb Houstan from RJ Barrett’s hometown of Mississauga, Ontario, and 6-10 Charles Bediako, also a Canadian.

This class could be huge.
