5 Free Agents the Warriors Should Sign and Why
Let’s face it, the Warriors had a tough season last year due to injuries and losses in the offseason. Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green were all injured last year, and the Warriors also lost Demarcus Cousins and Kevin Durant in free agency. But we need to start talking about rebuilding the team around Steph seeing as Durant left, and how it’s going to happen.
#5: DeMar DeRozan
DeRozan played superbly for the Raptors but then got traded to the Spurs for Kawhi Leonard, the Warriors need a good starting small-forward because they have a terrible bench, if they sign DeRozan then Wiggins can come off the bench while he starts.
#4: Anthony Davis
The Warriors have a lot of forwards and centers starting and coming off the bench, but Davis is still one of the best players in the league so anyone will try to get him, if the Lakers don’t win the championship this year then Davis will probably go to Chicago where he grew up and play with Zach Lavine, or sign with another team. When he played on the Lakers he started at power-forward which is the position he likes to play, but if he signs with the Warriors then he will probably start at center because of Eric Paschall or Draymond Green at power-forward. He’s not an essential player for the Warriors to sign because it’s highly unlikely that he will sign with them, but he’s definitely worth it.
#3: Andre Drummond
The Warriors need a good power-forward/center which is exactly what Drummond is, he can dunk, finish effectively in the paint, haul in rebounds, and on top of it all, he is an elite rim protector. He leads the league in rebound every year and in my opinion is the best center in the NBA.
#2: FredVanVleet
VanVleet is a good backup point-guard who can shoot very well, in the 2018-19 NBA season he was going to be put into the starting lineup but DeRozan was starting at shooting-guard, then the Raptors traded him for Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green so Green took the starting spot, but then in the 2019-20 season after Green left they started Kyle Lowry at shooting-guard and VanVleet and the point. So if the Warriors sign DeRozan and put Wiggins on the bench and can also get VanVleet to go to the bench and play backup point-guard then their team might go back to its former glory even without Durant and Cousins.
Honorable Mention: Luke Kennard
Kennard shot very well with the Detroit Pistons last year and he might have gone into the three-point contest except for the fact that he was diagnosed with knee tendinitis and was out for the rest of the season.
#1: Brandon Ingram
Ingram was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers and played for them for three years and only averaged 14 points per game until he was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans along with Lonzo Ball and Josh Hart for Anthony Davis. Ingram immediately blossomed into a young all-star and evolved into someone who averaged 30 points per game. He played power-forward until the Pelicans drafted Zion Williamson, he then played small-forward. Like I said before the Warriors desperately need forwards and centers and Ingram is the best way to do it.

If the Warriors do sign these people their team will be actually good again. They would have Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, DeMar DeRozan, Brandon Ingram, and Anthony Davis. Their bench would be Fred VanVleet, Damion Lee, Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green, and Andre Drummond. You could also switch it around and do Ingram at small-forward, Davis at power-forward, and Drummond at center. These are my opinions, I hope you agree with them.
