Steward is gifted and charismatic and that will go over well in Cameron

We always look forward to seeing Duke’s freshmen but this year, we’re really curious about DJ Steward.

The 6-3 Windy City native is versatile and from what we’ve seen, instinctive. He’s a scoring guard but could move over to play point as needed. He also can get out and run and that’s a major plus at Duke.

He also seems like a player people will rally around.

Anyway, the Chronicle has a piece up on Steward and what he brings to the team.

One thing to keep an eye on.

Unlike most years lately, Duke has an experienced guard. Jordan Goldwire will certainly be a captain, if not the captain - he epitomizes the rewards of hard work and commitment.

One of his final roles will be as a mentor.

He’ll be asked to take Steward and fellow freshman Jeremy Roach under his wing and to help teach them what being a guard at Duke means.
