Cambridge star commits to UAlbany women's basketball team
Lilly Phillips, a first-team all-Times Union girls' basketball selection and Class C all-state selection, has given an oral commitment to play at the University at Albany for the 2021-22 season.
A 6-foot guard who will be entering her senior season at high school, Phillips averaged 15.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.1 steals per game for the Section II Class C champions. She shot 41 percent from 3-point range and 77 percent from the foul line.
Phillips and her twin, Sophie, both made the Times Union small-school first team. Sophie, who has not committed to a college, was the TU Athlete of the Year for small-school girls' basketball. Both played for their father, Bob Phillips, who coached the Indians to a 22-1 record. Their bid for a second straight state title was halted when the state playoffs were canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic.
