SAN FRANCISCO
Annabel Schneiberg (Lick-Wilmerding, 5-foot-8, So.): A guard, she was the Bay Counties League West Player of the Year, leading the Tigers to a 29-3 record and No. 13 spot in The Chronicle’s final Metro rankings.
Schneiberg averaged 14.2 points per game, shot 56% from the field and had 23 points and nine rebounds in a 69-45 North Coast Section Division 4 quarterfinal win over Piedmont. Opposing coaches praised Schneiberg’s versatility and court sense.
“She’s a great passer, good shooter, sees the entire floor,” Lick-Wilmerding coach Daniel Tesfai said. “We challenged her to be great on the defensive end this year, and she’s done that.”
PENINSULA
Ashley Hiraki (Mitty, 5-7, Sr.): The West Catholic Athletic League Player of the Year, who signed with Cal State Northridge, led the nation’s No. 2 team to WCAL, Central Coast Section Open and Northern California Open titles.
The Monarchs (26-3) ended on a 19-game win streak, a run halted because of the coronavirus pandemic. The leader of a balanced, high-scoring offense averaged 12.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 3.4 steals per game.
“She always makes the right basketball play, and she’s always a selfless leader,” Mitty coach Sue Phillips said. “She’s a coach on the floor and a mentor to the younger players. We’re really going to miss her.”

Kennedy Johnson (Bishop O’Dowd, 6-0, Jr.): The West Alameda County Conference’s Foothill League Player of the Year led the fourth-ranked Dragons (23-7) to a Northern California Division 1 title.
