Alice Lloyd’s Blake Smith Named NAIA DII All-American

KANSAS CITY – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the 2020 Division II Men’s Basketball All-America teams on Thursday. Kyle Mangas of Indiana Wesleyan was named National Player of the Year.

Coach Colby Blaine of College of Idaho was named the NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball Coach of the Year. Blaine lead the Yotes to a 31-3 record and a No. 1 ranking in the final NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25.

Alice Lloyd College senior standout Blake Smith was named as Third Team All-American. Smith had an exceptional year and career at ALC. The 6’3 guard finished the year 4th in the nation in scoring as he averaging 26.3 ppg. He was named First Team All-River States Conference for the second consecutive year.

Smith also completed his career as the number two scorer in Eagle history with 2,304 points, trailing only Robert Marcum. In addition, his 26.3 points-per-game broke the ALC single-season record for highest scoring average in a season.

Smith is a Kinesiology major and is set to graduate in May 2020.
