[Women's Basketball] WBB Preview: Wilmington, Wilberforce with Jeff Nickel

0 38

Seventh-year head coach Jeff Nickel sits down to talk basketball on his birthday! No. 7 Shawnee State takes on Wilmington on Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. and Wilberforce on Saturday, Dec. 28 at 2 p.m.

For the Dec. 28 contest, the SSU Athletic Department will be offering free admission to fans who will be bringing in donations of non-perishable goods for the women's basketball program's Dec. 28 contest against Wilberforce. The goods, which will go to Shawnee State's Bear Necessites Pantry, are to serve students who are experiencing food insecurity or hunger. The pantry also keeps personal care items and basic school supplies in its shortage.

In the Wilmington contest, Shawnee State enters the matchup with a 13-1 overall record. The Bears are averaging 88.1 points per game and shooting 46 percent from the field while holding their opposition to just 59.6 points per contest and 31.4 percent shooting from the floor. Those marks will be put to the test as SSU faces a 5-3 NCAA Division III squad in the Quakers, who are led by the talents of twin sisters McKayla Binkley (18.4 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.1 steals, 56.7 percent shooting) and Hannah Binkley (13.5 points, 3.6 rebounds).
