The school and town have an impressive athletic history

Duke’s next opponent is Central Arkansas and that’s a fairly obscure opponent to most ACC fans. So before we do our UCA preview, we thought we’d talk about about the program, the school and town.

First you can get there by heading west on I-40. Straight shot but it’ll take 13 hours.

The program has produced one basketball immortal: Scottie Pippen went there before he went on to achieve greatness with the Chicago Bulls. Former Arkansas triplet legend Marvin Delph was born there as well.

UCA competes in the Southland Conference which is a good ways downstream from the ACC. They lost badly to Baylor in the season opener (105-61) but gave Georgetown a better game losing just 89-75. Former State starter Omer Yurtseven had 17 points and 15 rebounds.

Of course Duke may face the Hoyas in New York as part of the 2K Empire Classic later this month.

A minor note here: internet sensation Mac McClung shot just 1-10.
