George Mason sits at 0-8 in the A10. A Flyer sweep is in order today, but going inside and match there are things a fan should look for.
First Mason runs a fast offense. We just had a great blocking match on Friday. No only in the number of blocks, but also in how many roof-blocks we put up where the ball goes right back down to the floor because our blockers got their hands and arms extended over the net to put that roof on the net. We also had a bunch of block-touches that our back row handled and got under to keep rallies going. And we didnt have a lot of block-touches go out of bounds because we didnt get our hands turned in towards center court. Today the fast offense will challenge our block in that we have to close the block quick. We will be challenged on block footwork and reading the setter to get that first step. Its perfect timing to go against a fast offense to check our improvement.
Second, Mason is a pretty scrappy team in getting to kill attempts and digging them out. We saw at increase in down-the-line and cut shot attacks from ahittets on a Friday. We will need to see more of those today to avoid GMUs defense.
Third...as always...we will need to win the serve and pass game.
