Georgia Tech To Appeal NCAA Penalties
Which would allow them to play in the NCAA Tournament if selected while the appeal is active.
Recently the NCAA came down on hard on Georgia Tech and hammered the Yellow Jackets with extensive penalties.
Not surprisingly, given the severity of those penalties, Georgia Tech has opted to appeal.
The school is not appealing all of the findings but only certain ones. One of the goals of this is likely to let the Yellow Jackets participate in this year’s NCAA Tournament because the penalties can’t be imposed while under appeal. Tech has been pointing to that for some time and for coach Josh Pastner, under fire for poor results and his management of the program in general, getting to play in March would be a huge boost.
We haven’t seen this mentioned anywhere, but if Pastner gets to March with another poor record, between that and NCAA woes, he could be in real trouble.
March may not be so much about the NCAA tournament as the NCAA sanctions in other words. It’s a bit early to wonder who will be on ACC hot seats but between Pastner, Wake’s Danny Manning and BC’s Jim Christian, there may be some openings.
