When Bronny James played at the prestigious Peach Jam this summer, long lines of fans waited outside the gym doors each day to watch him play.

His games were major events even though he is only 14 years old.

Now James and his teammate Zaire Wade — the sons of LeBron James and Dwyane Wade — will play in New Jersey this season.

Their Sierra Canyon (CA) team will headline the Metro Classic against Long Island Lutheran, the reigning New York State Federation champions, at The RWJBarnabas Health Arena in Toms River on Feb. 8. The building has a capacity of about 3,500.

The game is expected to be featured on the ESPN family of networks, possibly on ESPNU, and will be reminiscent of the time LeBron played at the Primetime Shootout in New Jersey in 2003.

“He’s been taught by the absolute best,” Paul Biancardi, the ESPN national recruiting director who as an assistant at Ohio State had recruited the elder James, told Billy Witz of The New York Times at Peach Jam.

Long Island Lutheran features newly-minted Ohio State commit Zed Key, as well as uncommitted senior point guard Andre Curbelo and uncommitted senior wing Jalen Celestine.

The Metro Classic has been held at Kean University in recent years, but will shift to The RWJBarnabas Health Arena this year and will actually be split up into two events.

Metro Classic I will run Jan. 10-11 and will once again be highlighted by Kevin Boyle’s Montverde (FL) Academy team that features uncommitted seniors Cade Cunningham, Scottie Barnes and Moses Moody.

The Patrick School, which features Jonathan Kuminga, the No. 1 player in the Class of 2021, will also compete in the event but will not play Montverde.

Metro Classic II will run Feb. 7-8 at the Ritacco Center featuring Sierra Canyon against Gill St. Bernard, the Patrick School against Huntingon Prep (W.V.) and Kentucky-bound forward Lance Ware and Camden against Gill St. Bernard’s.

Various girls teams will also be showcased, including the Sierra Canyon girls team.
