While Miner enjoyed his extended stay in Austin, which he called "a great city," he was looking to get his foot in the door coaching men's basketball.
"We always talked about how I was going to get over, and really the consensus is, you've got to know somebody,' Miner said. "I knew Carm and it just worked out."
He got his chance when Siena promoted fellow Shenendehowa graduate Carmen Maciariello to head coach in March. Maciariello hired Miner as his special assistant to the head coach, a position that delves heavily into advanced statistics.
Miner replaced AJ Register, who served the same role on former coach Jamion Christian's staff a year ago and followed him to George Washington.
