Marshall Plumlee Is A (Certified) Badass

If you think he was scary on the court, stay away from him now.

Former Duke big man Marshall Plumlee was not a great basketball player. What he was though was ferocious and intense as hell.

He’s found a new place to channel that now: Plumlee is one of the army’s newest Rangers and, we’re quite sure, the biggest one of all time.

2nd Lt. Plumlee, 7-0 and strong no matter what his current weight is (it’s probably down a bit because Ranger training is very different than basketball training), graduated from Ranger School on August 30th.

There’s a picture of him on that linked page with Gen. David Hodne, not a small man, but who only comes up to Plumlee’s shoulder.

Also worthy of mention: Plumlee’s class surely features the first NCAA champion and former NBA player. It also features the first Air Force woman to make it through Ranger School as 1st Lt. Chelsey Hibsch completed the extraordinarily challenging program.

Actually that’s a funny thought: next time the three Plumlee brothers are together, Marshall can ask Miles and Mason what training camp was like and when they ask him what he’s been doing he can tell them something like “a survival program in the Mojave Desert. Rattlesnakes and bugs are surprisingly tasty.”

Anyway, hearty congratulations to the youngest and most badass Plumlee brother of all. His brothers in arms are probably going to be thrilled to have him. While his size makes him an obvious target, he’s also highly intimidating - as we found out at Duke - and can probably get a Humvee out of the mud like nobody’s business. He’s going to be a phenomenal Ranger.
