[Women's Soccer] CSM soccer blanked by Williams Woods

FULTON, Mo. – Jordan Irsik said her squad fought until the end, but ran out of steam in a nonconference contest against William Woods University.

The Owls defeated College of Saint Mary 2-0 Saturday afternoon.

"Overall, we played well and created opportunities for ourselves," Irsik said. "We just didn't finish and lost steam towards the end."

The Flames were playing on less than 24 hours rest after defeating Stephens College in their season opener Friday.

Aurora Henriksen scored for William Woods at the 24:52 mark of the contest with an assist from Alexis Willingham. Then teammate McKenzie Gourley scored less than a minute later to put the Owls ahead 2-0.

"Both goals weren't strong and we need to learn to clean up the mistakes that we made and not have those lapses," Irsik said. "But we responded well and fought hard the rest of the match."

Williams Woods outshot the Flames 20-11. Corryne Millett (SR/Minden, Nev.) had 11 saves in net for CSM.

The Flames return to action Wednesday in their home opener at 4 p.m. against Bethany College.
