DeMarcus Cousins says he plans on returning this season

0 8

It may be a long shot, but Boogie is remaining optimistic.

Golden State Warriors center DeMarcus Cousins hasn’t played since April 15, when he tore his quad in Game 2 of the Warriors opening round playoff series against the Los Angeles Clippers.

A torn quad meant Cousins’ season was almost surely over, but the team has maintained all along that there’s a chance, albeit slim, of Boogie returning to the court.

While Cousins is facing long odds, he’s staying positive, and plans on making it back to the court before the season is over.

“For me, my goal is I ain’t planning on sitting,” Cousins said in an interview with The Undefeated. “I don’t know the reality of it. But for me, that is not what I’m planning on doing . . . It’s definitely some type of bad movie. But I think it will have a very nice ending. Just wait for it.”

Cousins has a pretty admirable perspective on the topic, which may be the result of the horrendous Achilles injury that cost him a year of play from January 2018 until January 2019. He said he’s been optimistic since the tear, and realizes that these types of injuries happen to a lot of people.

“I was confident from the beginning once they told me the severity of it,” Cousins said in the interview. “Talking to the doctors helped me understand the injury a little more. I started analyzing things and playing it out in my head. I’m going to take it day by day and work my ass off like I always do. . . Obviously, I was little more relieved that it wasn’t anything catastrophic like I’ve dealt with before. It sucks to be injured anyway on top of that. . . It’s a part of this game, man. I’m not the first. I won’t be the last”

A return from Cousins may or may not make a huge difference on the court, but it would definitely give the Warriors a tremendous emotional lift.
